AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 11 May, 2026 – Workday, Inc. (NASDAQ: WDAY), the enterprise AI platform for managing people, money and agents, has announced that Genesis Energy, New Zealand's leading electricity and gas provider, has successfully gone live on Workday Financial Management.
Genesis Energy, with advisory and implementation support from Accenture, deployed Workday's AI platform as a cornerstone of its finance transformation, replacing a legacy Oracle system.
Genesis Energy began its journey with the ambition to transform finance from a transactionally focused function into a strategic enabler of business value. Following a nine month discovery process, Workday emerged as the standout choice, not just as a system replacement, but as the right platform to drive a genuine finance transformation.
According to Genesis’ leadership team, Workday is enabling a fundamental shift in how the business operates, not just within finance but across the entire organisation. Real-time data insights and flexible reporting will allow leadership to present compelling insights to investors and internal stakeholders alike.
In addition, the Workday platform provides the digital foundation Genesis needs to deliver on its Gen35 energy transition strategy, which includes building a $2 billion pipeline of renewable electricity generation and back-up supply by FY32, in support of New Zealand's commitment to net zero 2050.
Genesis’ Chief Financial Officer Emma Oettli said the company looks forward to the opportunities presented by Workday to consolidate its finance systems, provide strategic insights, and offer a consistent user experience for Genesis employees.
Oettli said, "Implementing Workday Financial Management will provide Genesis with an out-of-box solution to leverage best practice finance and business processes with future-ready technology.”
Jonathan Brabant, Regional Sales Director, Workday New Zealand said, “We are proud to support such an iconic Kiwi company in its digital transformation efforts. The Workday platform enabled Genesis to go live with minimal disruption, so it can continue to focus on delivering electricity and gas throughout the country. With Workday, Genesis is on track to significantly improve how the finance function works.”
